Bridal and Baby Showers That Will Wow
Giving a bridal showers or baby showers that will wow can take some real planning. The first thing to remember is the person you are celebrating. What is their personality? Favorite colors? And what kind of style of event would they like to attend?
For bridal showers, there are the favorite themes that seem to always work. The high tea is a lovely way to celebrate a new bride. Rent or borrow tea cups and teapots to give that shabby chic look to the event. Find lace tablecloths and napkins to bring an old fashioned feeling to the tables. Then mix and match pastel colored plates to bring some excitement to the placesettings. Creating centerpieces is as easy as mason jars filled with the brides favorite flower. Use colored ribbon wound through the many jars to create a bright splash of color and that can also be incorporated in her shower bouquet.
Another fun idea is to take the wedding colors and incorporate them in a modern theme. The Mad Men look of the sixties is all the rage. No matter the bride’s color combo use modern twists and bold prints to bring a very cool edge to the event. Choose a vintage looking invite and then make sure to keep it simple. The lines of that time were clean and functioning. Use silver chargers and white plates to keep a stark place setting. Then have martini glasses at all the guests seats. Have pitchers of virgin and fully leaded martini’s for them to use and bowls of onions, strawberries, and other tasty treats on toothpicks to swirl in their drinks.
Now for the momma’s to be. The pink and blue color scheme is done. Why not bring a new vibrancy into the event. Use blue, but a shade of cerulean or navy. Take pink to a new level with magenta or rasberry. If you don’t know the sex of the baby then you can bring in lovely shades of green, yellow, and teal.
A theme is always a good way to celebrate a new arrival. What about using books as the theme since everyone loves to buy children’s books. Make the centerpieces the classic books like Goodnight Moon and Pat the Bunny. Guests can then sign the books with advice to the mom and dedications to the child making a once in a lifetime gift for mother and child.
Or take this time to pamper the mommy with a spa baby shower. Bring in a massage therapist to give chair massages to all the guests or a mani/pedi station. Make sure to let the mommy go first. Have the table settings be eco-friendly and use different size bottles down the tables filled with lavender and herbs. The colors should be clean and fresh and send the guests home with shower gel or lotions with tiny loofah sponges tied with raffia.
If you have to plan a shower make sure to find an invitation that sets the tone for your event. Then make sure you have the correct addresses and spellings for all the attendees. Plan out the day and make lists to make sure that everything gets done. Bask in a beautiful day celebrating the bride or momma in your life.
